You need the CS4 serial number for the upgrade, not the crossgrade. In the meantime you can run the products in free trial mode for thirty days. What they might do is deactivate all of the existing installations for your product key on their end, and then you’ll need to reactivate the two working computers you want by reentering your serial number on them.
